Support and Facilities
To help you make the most of your time here, we offer various facilities and services specifically for students. These include libraries, restaurants and support services for students. UvA students also have access to student counsellors, psychologists, doctors and dentists. Special facilities and services are available for students with a disability or chronic condition.
Central Student Service Desk

The Central Student Service Desk is the first point of contact for general questions about studying at the UvA. Here you can ask questions about choosing a study programme, enrolment, financial matters, visa and insurance, studying abroad and much more. The Central Student Service Desk is located at the Roeterseiland Campus.
Student careers centre

The Student Careers Centre (SCC) is specialised in advising UvA students and graduates on making decisions during your study and finding work after graduation. The SCC provides a variety of services during your time as a student at the UvA, including career information sessions, the UvA Job Board which displays jobs and internship opportunities, workshops to improve applications skills, and Career Networking Events. The SCC also offers individual guidance and advice.
University Library and Study Centres

All UvA students have free access to the University Library in the city centre and the UvA’s smaller libraries, where a number of special collections are housed. In addition to thousands of printed books and journals, the University Library has a digital library providing 24-hour access to databases, e-books and full-text electronic journals.
Normally the Library offers over 3,500 study places (with or without PCs), free Wi-Fi, printers and scanners, in locations spread around the city. Due to the corona crisis study spaces are only available if you reserve beforehand. Please note, you cannot enter the building without your student ID card.
Restaurants and canteens

No time to prepare meals at home? The UvA has three large university restaurants where you can meet with friends, take a break or prepare for class. Most faculties also have their own canteens.

Want to kick off your UvA journey with some cool merch? Head over the UvAshop, which is located at Spui 23, in the heart of Amsterdam! Our merch collection includes hoodies, jumpers, t-shirts, coffee cups, bicycle accessories, school supplies and more. Check out all the items online at www.uvashop.nl or visit the store in person. Students and staff get a 10% discount upon showing their UvA IDs.
